The Glamorous Cantik

Kucing (Koo-ching) is Indonesian for cat.  The plural is kucing kucing.

Glamorous Cantik -  a lilac point Siamese with opalescent blue eyes.  Her name means Beautiful in Indonesian. The pronunciation sounds French, Chan-tique.  Because she is ultra exquisite, we often call her La Belle Cantik.  A serene lady, very contemplative, Cantik continually studies the curious nature of her humans.  Lately, she has taken to serious observation of Marlowe antics.  She seems to view both behaviors as equally incomprehensible, albeit fascinating.

Marlowe Attacks

Marlowe has been dubbed The Rocket.  Alternately, he's known as Crash.  Shown here at eight weeks, he's a real charmer.  Favorite activities include: digging for lost toys under the stove; lying in a damp bathtub, and flinging himself in the general direction of trouble.

Marlowe was named for Phillip Marlowe the detective, Christopher Marlowe the playwright, and Marlowe, often narrator of Conrad's novels.  This Marlowe's literary propensities are limited to sitting on whatever is being read, and dangling over the television to bat the actors.

He is an "Asian Burmese", an English breed that originally crossed a Burmese and a Chinchilla Persian (which gives him a ticked coat similar to an Abby).   His amber eyes glow with a hint of green.

The White Shadows

The White Shadows
Sisters Fleur and Cantik

The delicate Fleur may no longer be with us but we remember her.  Faux terror was her favorite mode, spanking her favorite pleasure.  We used to threaten to tie her up in lace and leather and mail her to Madonna.  The sweetest, ditziest kucing imaginable, she inspired this tongue twister:

   Fur frizzed,
   Frighted Fleur
   Fled frantically.
